Laboratories requiring dual or multi cycle monitoring providing only true alerts
Monikel is capable of successfully monitoring dual (or multi) cycle test systems with high accuracy, allowing the user to set tight tolerances for each temperature,
and specify the transition times between cycles, initiating system alerts if either of the cycles is individually incorrect.
In growth and germination rooms, where daytime and night-time are simulated with different light and temperature levels, it is critical that each period is monitored
correctly in research terms so that the correct science can be applied.
Our Dual cycle monitoring has replaced less complex systems that can only monitor limits above the highest measurement and below the lowest across the entire cycle.
In the diagram:
This diagram represents one week of data gathered from a dual cycle temperature monitoring working model
The red line denotes the hi limit, the yellow line represents the low limit. The green line is the actual recorded temperature.
The diagram shows the two daily cycles, the transition times and the alert lines - these are genuine 'out of specification' alerts.
Dual Cycle Temperature Monitoring Case Study
Growth simulation
This client had a very specific requirement - to upgrade their single fixed temperature system to a dual cycle system capable of monitoring the temperature in their
growth rooms during a 24hr cycle to simulate growth patterns; 8hrs of night at 20° and 16hrs of daylight at 30°.
At the time we weren't aware of any monitoring systems that offered this dual cycle functionality, so we built one using Monikel's flexible databases and basic
mathematical logic based on time - How long does it need at one temperature, how long at the other and how long does it need to transition between the two and within
what tolerances?
The client needed to know if the temperature went out of specification by +/- 1° during both the 20° time and likewise during the 30°. Their old temperature
monitoring system range of 30° + 1 and 20° - 1 wasn't giving the desired results, so a system was required that could track both temperatures (maintaining a +/- 1°
tolerance) and the change that they went through, providing only true 'out of specification' results.
By only alerting on real specification breaches saved lab time and being able to track the temperature across its changes ensured all out of specification issues were
logged.
After creating it, we soon became aware that we could adapt the technology for other existing clients requiring better quality assurance for microbiological and shelf
life tests requiring cyclical changes in temperature to model abuse on samples.
